Fiona Forfar trained at the Northern Ballet School, Manchester on a full DADA Scholarship from 2003 - 2006. On graduating she spent 3 months working at a casino in Tokyo, Japan, before embarking on Cruise Ships.
Fiona has worked for a variety of Luxury Cruise Lines such as Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises and latterly Princes Cruise Lines. Working her way from a Production Show Dancer and Magician's Illusionist in the onboard theatres to Dance Captain and Company Performance Manger. Whilst working for Princess Cruises she was lucky to be a part of a creative team of dancers who worked alongside choreographer Gene Castle to produce a brand new show for the Cruise Line. This was an incredibly exciting and interesting experience. After travelling and performing around the world for 10 years Fiona decided to return to Yorkshire and share her passion for dance with others and teach. Fiona has been teaching at the Northern Dance Centre since February 2014 and has enjoyed every minute of it. She feels very lucky to be a part of NDC seeing it was Mrs Jaffe who gave her, her love of dance many, many years ago.
Most recently Fiona choreographed a number of Ballet pieces that were selected to compete as part of Team England at The Dance World Cup.  In 2019 Team England actually went on to win The World Cup, this was an amazing experience.
Fiona has loved being able to continue teaching you all online over the past four months, you’re enthusiasm and lovely smiling faces have been fantastic!
Fiona will be teaching Ballet and Stretching classes every Wednesday focusing on Ballet Technique, Core Strength and Stretching paired with exploring the children’s creativity and use of imagination.
On Thursdays she will be Teaching a mixture of Jazz and Ballet Repertoire to include La Bayadere, Giselle and Sleeping Beauty to name a few!
Fiona is very much looking forward to seeing lots of you in class over the summer at the NDC Summer Academy!

Stephanie Haighton

My journey started here at Northern Dance Centre at the age of three where I trained with Amy right through til the age of 18. I then went on to train at Centre Pointe Vocational College in Manchester, where I graduated as a qualified ISTD teacher & obtained a diploma in Professional Dance & Musical Theatre. After graduating

I spent 3 years in Paris dancing professionally, firstly performing for Disneyland Paris and then touring the city with a cabaret company.

Since returning to the UK I have been back at NDC teaching Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acro & Contemporary and I also deliver dance to many primary & secondary schools in and around the area.

I am beyond impressed with the children at NDC for continuing their training on zoom through the Covid pandemic, their energy has certainly kept me going & I can’t wait to see everyone again throughout the Summer Academy!
